Microsoft Confirms Windows 10 is Arriving This Summer
Earlier it was expected that Windows 10 wouldn’t arrive till October. But, now you won’t have to wait that long. Today Microsoft made an official announcement of the upcoming launch of Windows 10 launch. This happened at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) summit in Shenzhen, China.
The software giant hasn’t given an official date but said that it will be release this summer. The most advanced and complete Windows OS will be released in 190 countries and 111 languages.
The official blog post by Microsoft says:
“We continue to make great development progress and shared today that Windows 10 will be available this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages.”
Windows is being provided as a free upgrade to the existing users and the users can avail this offer starting this summer. The millions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 customers will be getting this offer. This free offer is valid just for a year, after that users will have to pay some undisclosed amount of yearly subscription fee.
Microsoft also announced specific partnerships with the PC manufacturers in China. Lenovo, world’s biggest computer manufacturer will offer Windows 10 upgrade service at 2,500 stores and centers in China. Lenovo will also manufacture Windows phones after the release.
This week has been flooded with Microsoft’s announcements and Windows 10 news. Couple of days ago, it was confirmed that Windows 10 will be saving large disk space up to 15GB on PCs owing to the newer data compression technology.
Following the footsteps of Torrent’s file sharing technique, Microsoft will now be releasing updates for Windows 10 using the peer-to-peer technology. This will ensure the faster and more frequently release of updates for Windows 10 systems. At the event, Microsoft said that Windows is the only operating system which is so diverse and is working coherently to achieve the dream of One Microsoft i.e. unified and seamless experience on all shaped and sized of devices.
