Apple launched iPhone 14 in September 2022. Samsung has had ample time to think about and improve the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup. The company announced that the Galaxy Unpacked event is inching closer and will kick off on 1 February 2023. Samsung prefers to launch its flagship devices in the spring, and this year will be no different in terms of timing.

The biggest highlight will be the 200MP sensor present in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, as the leaks suggest. So, Samsung could win the camera game if it is able to strike a balance between the hardware and software.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Lineup for Galaxy Unpacked

Samsung will launch three phones this year – which is no different from last year’s lineup. iPhone, however, has four variants, two of which are just bigger than their respective counterparts with a few extra features. All three Samsung Galaxy S23 devices will sport the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Unlike older processor embedding tactics, Samsung will ship all devices, irrespective of the region, using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Earlier, the company used to offer Exynos variants for most regions while the US got the Snapdragon variant. But that will end with this new lineup, and hopefully, it doesn’t cause a price rise in other regions.

Using Exynos was both a legal and a cheaper choice for Samsung, so it will be interesting to see how pricing changes when all variants sport the Snapdragon chip. Apart from that, the new Qualcomm chip will support Snapdragon’s Satellite feature. It will help users send an SOS signal when there’s no Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. The feature is exactly what Apple integrated into the iPhone 14 lineup and adds a layer of security for its users.

Samsungs S23 Ultra’s 200MP sensor isn’t the first 200MP sensor on the phone. Motorola has already launched the Edge 30 Ultra with a 200MP sensor, while Samsung chose to keep it quiet. Keep in mind that the bigger sensors can capture a lot of detail, but it all depends on software optimization in the end to produce big photos.
