Meet Atmotube Pro: A Portable Air Quality Tracking Device
As someone who hails from India, I can say that air pollution here is a serious problem. With air quality declining on a daily basis, monitoring air quality indoor as well as outdoor has become crucial to protect oneself from air pollution.
Well, as we say these days – modern problems require modern solutions. Here is one: Atmotube Pro, a portable air quality monitoring device that can warn you about deteriorating air quality in your surroundings.
Atmotube Pro: Wearable, Portable Air Quality Monitoring Device
Marketed as a “wearable, portable device that monitors the quality and safety of the air you breathe,” Atmotube Pro is a device capable of detecting PM1, PM 2.5, PM10 pollutants and several Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in real-time. The results are displayed in the Atmotube’s app which is available for Android as well as iOS devices.
Particulate Matter or PM are microscopic solid particles or liquid droplets that are either emitted directly into the air or formed by pollutants that combine in the atmosphere. PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 particles are found to be most harmful to human health.
VOCs, on the other hand, are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. High levels of VOCs can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation as well as headaches, loss of coordination, and nausea.
In addition to monitoring levels of PMs and VOCs, Atmotube Pro can also detect atmospheric pressure, temperature, and humidity.
How does Atmotube Pro Work?
Atmotube Pro has sensors for detecting PMs, VOCs, humidity, atmospheric pressure in real-time. You can connect the device to your smartphone using the app via BlueTooth.
It has a 2,000mAH battery and the device can work for one full day if you have enabled constant monitoring. You can charge Atmotube Pro using the provided Type-C cable.
Atmotube Pro has a single button which, when pressed, lights up the LED to indicate the Air Quality Score in your vicinity. The red light indicates severely polluted air, orange indicates mildly polluted air and green shows that you’re living in a clean environment where air pollution is below the permissible level.
However, I have never seen it go green maybe because in India it is next to impossible to have clean air unless you’re living in a hilly area.
Atmotube Pro is quite handy and portable. The company also provides a clip which you can use to hang the air quality monitoring device in your belt’s hook or on your bag.
Coming to Atmotube Pro’s app, it is neatly designed and shows the required information in a readable format. You can see Air Quality Score, exact data of PMs and VOCs in real-time, ambient temperature, and humidity.
In the area where I reside, the Air Quality Score fluctuated between 20 and 40 outdoor, 40 to 70 indoor. Here, 100 AQS denotes clean air and when the score slides to lower levels, it means increasing air pollution level.
Connection, however, I felt is an issue and I found the device getting disconnected automatically from my smartphone on more than one occasion.
Atmotube Pro is available for $143.20 from its official website. If you are living in the US, you can avail free shipping otherwise you’ll have to pay shipping price depending upon your country.
Should you buy Atmotube Pro?
if you’re living in a city like New Delhi which is notorious for its highly dangerous level of pollution, this is a must-have device especially for those who suffer from diseases like Asthma, Bronchitis and more.
You can decide whether or not you should go outside by checking the air quality score of the area. For others, you can use it as a personal air quality and weather monitoring device.
