Google Is Already Working On “Android P” And Testing It On Pixel Phones

If you don’t have a Pixel or Nexus device, you’re among most of the Android users who are waiting for the latest Oreo treat; possibly, it could take months to arrive.

But, it appears that Google wants to stay ahead of time, and according to some new commits spotted by XDA, the Android-maker has already begun their work on Android P, i.e., Android 9.0 (Here are the expected Android P code names).

The three commits have been merged to the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) master branch (master-p). XDA notes that the testing for Android P is being carried out on devices Pixel (sailfish) and Pixel XL (marlin).

Android P or Android 9.0 is the next major version of Google’s mobile operating system which would arrive next year. If we consider past releases, P might be launched somewhere between July and August.

For now, all we can do it guess some names of the Android P, here are some suggestions you can consider.

XDA is also speculating that Google might skip Android 8.1 release and go for Android 9.0, i.e., Android P.
