Leak Reveals New 4nm Snapdragon 895 Specs With X65 5G Modem
Several leaks and multiple sources have seemingly confirmed the Snapdragon 895 specs, Qualcomm’s new flagship chipset. This new chipset will be the direct successor to Snapdragon 888. You can look forward to seeing it on most of the next-generation 5G smartphones coming in the future.
The latest Snapdragon leak is courtesy of the famous blogger Evan Blass, who tweeted about all key components of the new chipset. Despite the information coming from a notable leaker, it should be taken with a grain of salt, as is the case with all the leaks.
Snapdragon 895 specs
This new SoC will be fabricated on a 4nm process and features the latest Qualcomm X65 5G modem. The modem offers wireless download speeds of up to 10 Gbps. For comparison, the X60 5G modem in the Snapdragon 888 offers a wireless download speed of up to 7.5Gbps. The CPU on the chip has Kryo 780 cores built on the ARM Cortex v9 technology.
As for the graphical improvements, it seems that the Snapdragon 895 will be coming with Adreno 730 GPU. It could be a huge upgrade from the previous Adreno 660 that came with Snapdragon 888. As for the camera, it will be handled by Spectra 680 ISP, which could very well quadruple the image processing speed.
The new SoC is likely to have major performance improvements due to being a 4nm chip compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 888, with its 5nm chip.
There is still some time between now and Qualcomm’s December announcement where the chip might be formally announced. However, it should be noted that there is a worldwide chip shortage right now, so there’s no telling when these chips will be ready for production.
Nonetheless, there are more cost-effective chips in the market, such as the Snapdragon 865+, 865, 860, 870, and 778. Qualcomm also has its competitors to look out for in the form of Apple A15 SoC and Samsung Exynos based on AMD RDNA architecture. Its existing A14 Bionic Apple’s A14 Bionic chip is already making many flagship SoCs out of breadth.
