One of the oldest video conferencing apps, Skype, has now launched a new feature known as Meet Now. With this new feature, hosts can create a link for meeting and share it among the participants.

As per the company, you can organize a meeting on Skype in just three steps now without even installing the official app. The approach is quite similar to Google Meet where you don’t even require to sign up to make free conference calls.

Skype Meet Now

To start making calls with Skype Meet Now, just visit the official website and click on ‘Create a free meeting’ to invite participants. You can invite them by clicking on the share button or by generating and sharing the link directly.

The app will directly open up if the person you are inviting has installed Skype. Just in case, the person has not installed the app, the video call will start on the browser.

Skype is also allowing users to record video calls and save them review them later. However, the recordings are stored for 30 days only. With Skype Meet, users also get the option to blur their background before entering a video conference.

One of the most useful features, Share Screen, that is often required during online meetings is also present on Skype Meet. Using this feature, you can share important information or a presentation with all the participants simultaneously.

Skype vs Zoom

Zoom meeting app is preferred by several people but recently it several privacy issues have been observed in the app. Apparently, Zoom calls didn’t have End-to-End encryption as claimed by the app. It actually used the TLS encryption that is majorly used by web browsers to secure HTTP websites.

This is why several users are switching to various Zoom alternatives as no one wants to compromise with their privacy. Skype Meet can also be considered as one good alternative to Zoom now.

Due to coronavirus pandemic, a majority of people are working from home and educational institutions are also arranging online classes. So Skype’s move to launch Meet Now at such a crucial time can attract a large number of users because it’s simple to use.
