iPhone 13 Pro & Pro Max Announced: High Refresh Rate Finally Arrives on iPhones

Apple’s iPhone 13 series launch event, or rather the California Streaming event, was full of tiny surprises. While the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini were in accordance with the leaks, Apple introduced a long-awaited feature in the Pro models of the lineup.

The Pro and Pro Max’s biggest spotlight-stealing feature is surely the new camera system and the ProMotion display. Likewise, ProMotion is Apple’s fancy term for a high refresh rate display. However, only the Pro models get ProMotion this year.

iPhone 13 Pro & Pro Max Specifications

The Pro models get some additions and improvements in all departments this year. To begin, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max receive an all-new and exclusive light blue color. Here’s a specification overview for the newly launched Pro models in the iPhone 13 lineup.

  • Sierra Blue, Graphite, Gold, and Silver colors.
  • Stainless steel bands
  • Apple’s A15 Bionic SoC
  • ProMotion Display, with variable refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz
  • Camera:
    • 77mm telephoto lens
    • Ultrawide camera lens with 92% boost in low-light, f/1.28 aperture
    • Wide camera lens with f/1.5 aperture, and low light improvement
    • New macro photography variant
    • Night mode
    • Cinematic Mode for video: Apple’s latest feature addition to the Pro models which has several features like focus tracking and focus adjustment
    • ProRes Video coming the 13 Pro and Pro Max later this year
  • Battery: iPhone 13 Pro ofers 1.5 hours longer battery life than the iPhone 12 Pro, while the 13 Pro Max offers 2.5 hours longer battery life than the 12 Pro Max.
  • Storage: The Pro models got a new storage option this year, featuring 1TB of storage. All storage options include 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

Apple surely loves its Pro models in every iPhone series. Certainly, the 13 Pro & Pro Max received their well-deserved upgrades in the camera department. Over the years, users worldwide have shifted to iPhones to capture videos, and Apple knows it. The addition of Cinematic Mode and ProRes video are clear indications of the same.

As for the pricing, the iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999 and the 13 Pro Max starts at $1099. The pricing is kept the same as the previous year’s iPhone 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max.
