Google is adding a set of new features to Google Assistant, including the “Pretty Pleasefeature that was announced back in May during Google I/O.

The features have been bundled as “surviving the holidays” toolkit, and are intended to improve the productivity and home entertainment capabilities of Google Assistant.

If you have a display-equipped Assistant, Google has some new tricks up its sleeve for you to try. The “Visual lyrics” feature turns your smart assistant into a karaoke machine as lyrics are displayed on the screen and you can sing along. The feature would work only if you have a Google Play Music subscription.

Google Home Hub and other Assistant devices with display now also allow you to chat with guests or strangers at your home’s door if you have Nest Doorbell installed.

However, one of the most exciting features is “Pretty Please” which is meant to “reinforce polite behavior” in the users. Google Assistant will now respond more politely and delightfully if you add “Thank You” and “Please” while talking to it.

Google Assistant will identify your kindness and will reciprocate it. For example, if you say “Hey Google, Please set a timer for 5 minutes,” you can expect Google Assistant to answer “Thanks for asking so nicely. Alright, 5 minutes. Starting now”

It will be an optional feature that will be automatically enabled for those users who have registered their voices using the app. The “Pretty Please” feature will work on both with and without display smart assistant devices.
