Indian TikTok alternative Mitron app has crossed 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store within a month of launch. An IIT Roorkee student Shivank Agarwal is the creator of the Indian TikTok alternative.

The launch of the Indian TikTok alternative, at the time when TikTok is embroiled in the Youtube vs TikTok war and facing a severe backlash from Indians, can be a game-changer for the app. However, a few reviews on the Google Play say that the app looks more like a clone app of TikTok with fewer features and more bugs.

Mitron App: An Indian TikTok Alternative

The app has a similar user interface as TikTok. As soon as the user opens the app, he lands on a page where they see different videos. The app is also very small in size, only 8MB, as compared to TikTok, You can edit your profile but only minimal details could be added in addition to name and bio.

The video recording interface of the app lacks the filters and effects as compared to TikTok. You can also add sounds to your videos by just tapping the ‘Add sounds’ button on the video recording screen.

As of now, only the Android version of the app is available in the market and there is no word about the iOS version of the Indian TikTok alternative.

Mitron App Bugs

Indian TikTok Alternative

A major issue noticed by us at the time of testing the app is that it crashes a lot while making videos. This can be very frustrating for creators as they have to record the video twice, thrice or more than that.

However, the Indian TikTok alternative has a lot of video sharing options. When the users tap the share button, they will get all the existing options where they can share the video.

The platforms include Hike, Slack, Instagram, WhatsApp. VLC, ShareIt, Telegram, Snapchat, and a lot more. However, adding a few necessary features will be more beneficial for the app instead of adding unnecessary sharing options.

TikTok Controversies

In the past few days,  TikTok vs YouTube controversy was a hot topic that resulted in creating a bad image of TikTok. The ratings of the app fell from 4.6 stars to just 1.3 stars on the Google Play Store.

In another unrelated incident at the same time, TikTok found itself in a controversy as a video of a famous TikTok creator was found promoting acid attacks. The majority of people demanded a complete ban on TikTok and #bantiktok was also trending on Twitter India for almost a week.

Mitron vs TikTok

These controversies can serve as a base for the rise of the Mitron app in India. However, it cannot be exactly said that Mitron can give a tough competition to TikTok as the former lacks a lot of features as of now.

The rapid popularity gained by Mitron is because of its indigenous nature and people are downloading it to fan their anti-china sentiments. To compete with TikTok in the long run, Mitron has to go through a lot of changes and modifications.
