Yesterday, Google rolled out the November security update 2018 as scheduled. The security patch is the first update for Google Pixel 3 owners and a second one, after the release of Android Pie.

Sadly, it might be the last update for people owning Google Pixel C, and the Nexus series – Nexus 6P and Nexus 6X. In other words, the Nexus series has finally arrived at the end of its journey.

For those who are oblivious to the Google update policy — Google only guarantees two years of firmware updates and three years of security updates, from the day when the device first became available in the market (Google Store).

Google Pixel C, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are already out of the firmware update, i.e., they still run on Android 8.1 Oreo. And now they have officially run out of security updates as well.

Meanwhile, if you own one of these devices, you can still squeeze some juice out of it with the help of Custom ROMS. Most of the Custom ROM works fine, but they come with few bugs. And you will have to root your device which is a quite complicated task.

On the other hand, Google Pixel, Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 owners can take a sigh of relief because Google will continue to bring updates, at least for the next year. As for the new November security update, Google has fixed over 17 security vulnerabilities and many bug fixes.

Also, Google has added more notification stability in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 devices. You can read the whole changelog here.
