Maruti showcased much-awaited Maruti Jimny at the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. The automaker hopes to dominate the market for the segment with the launch of Maruti Jimny in India.
Maruti Jimny is a three-door 4×4 mini SUV from Maruti Suzuki. The car received humongous fame after it was crowned World Urban Car Of The Year for 2019. The vehicle also grabbed the third position in the World Car Design Of The Year award.
There will likely be a petrol version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, considering the company has phased out the BS4 Diesel Engine for all its upcoming models. The mini SUV will likely launch in mid-2021. The price will be around Rs 8 to 10 lakh. However, there is no official confirmation from the company regarding its launch date and price.
Let’s have a sneak peek into what Maruti has to offer with Jimny.
Maruti Jimny launch Specs, Engine, and Mileage:
Maruti Jimy will have a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine. Maruti is using the same engine in Ertiga, Ciaz, and XL 6. In the 4×4 mini Jimny SUV, the driver will make around 103 HP and a peak torque of around 140 Nm. These figures can vary based on engine tuning.
It will come with a 5-speed manual transmission. An optional 4-speed automatic transmission system will also be available in the top variants.
Although it is entirely different in style from cars equipped with the same engine, the Maruti Jimy will likely have a fuel economy of 20 to 22 kmpl (52 mpg) with the BS6 petrol engine.
Maruti Jimny will have an All-Wheel Drive(AWD) version. The AWD technology is based on Maruti’s All Grip Pro 4×4 system. The technology is currently used in global models of the mini SUV.
Apart from this, there will be a traditional infotainment system that Maruti currently uses in its cars.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny is unique in its concept and design from other cars. Nevertheless, it can affect the sales of mini SUVs and Compact SUVs in the market like Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, etc.
The Jimny could even be a rival to Jeep Compass, as it will be a more affordable option for going off-road for the masses.
As per the sources, Maruti Jimny will also come with a hybrid version. As BS6 emission norms kick in, automakers are churning out more environment-friendly cars. Maruti is incorporating its SHVS technology into its vehicles.
The company also showcased Maruti Suzuki Swift hybrid at the ongoing Auto Expo.
With Maruti Jimny, the company is all set to dominate the Indian auto industry in 2020. We will update you as soon as there is any official confirmation regarding the launch date of Maruti Jimny in India. Stay tuned for all the latest updates.
