WhatsApp Leaks Further Tease A Group For Groups Called Communities
The latest leaks suggest that WhatsApp could soon bring the long-rumored “Communities” for its users. A new screenshot related to the feature has surfaced, telling us more about it.
Although this rumored addition has been known to be under development since November 2021, it hasn’t yet landed for WhatsApp users. However, there have been regular hints about this feature within the app.
As per WABetaInfo, a reliable leak source, the latest Beta release references the arrival of Communities. A leaked image shows us the screen from which we’ll be able to create a new group or add existing ones to a community.
For the past few months, information about “Communities” has regularly shown up in multiple leaks. From its initial reporting by XDA Developers to additional backing by WABetaInfo, it’s been in the news for a while. In the meantime, quite a few relevant screenshots have made their way online.
Communities On WhatsApp: Every Leak Summed Up
Essentially, Communities is a private group for groups where admins reportedly have better control. However, the additional options it might bring for admins are still unknown. By the way, admins can add new members to the community either manually or via an invite link.
A previous leak showed that the WhatsApp community would be similar to a group. It would have common basic attributes such as a display image, title, and description. Moreover, an admin can link up to 10 groups in a community and view only those that he is linked with. Once an admin leaves a community, he will not be able to view linked groups either.
According to the screenshots, community admins could also have a pre-defined group called “Announcement” in a community. As of now, what purpose this group would serve is unclear. However, the initial consensus is that admins would be able to broadcast messages to all the groups in a community from the Announcement group.
