Apple's AirPower Wireless Charging Mat Finally Enters Production: Report

Airpower, probably the most delayed Apple device, could finally be at the production stage, reports Mac Rumors.

ChargerLAB, a Hong Kong-based website, has tweeted the inside information, citing Chinese manufacturer Luxshare Precision as a “credible source.” It’s worth noting that previously it was being speculated that Luxshare Precision was involved in the production of Apple products.

In another tweet, ChargerLab cites that Apple supplier Pegatron “is set to start mass produce AirPower at Jan 21.”

Apple first announced AirPower in September 2017, along with the introduction of iPhone X. At the event, Apple also gave a small preview of the wireless charging mat. The device can charge iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPod — all at the same time.

While the Apple AirPower was set to release in 2018, it was eventually delayed. Reports suggested that the device was facing technical difficulties, specifically overheating while wirelessly charging other Apple devices.

Next, the speculation started firing up again before the Apple October event. Many thought that Apple would release the AirPower, along with the next-generation AirPods. Alas, both were absent from the event.

ChargerLAB has published numerous Apple products info leaks over the last few years. If this one is accurate, it could mean an early launch of AirPower this year.
