Facebook Is The Least Trusted Major Tech Company, Poll Suggests
It seems like Facebook has a long way to go when it comes to gaining back the trust of its users. The social networking site is voted the least trustworthy tech company, according to a recent poll conducted by Fortune.
The poll, in collaboration with Harris Poll organization, was conducted in October on behalf of around 2,000 US adults.
The poll suggests that only 22 percent of users in the US trust Facebook with his or her data. The highest percentage of trust is taken by Amazon with 49 percent, followed by Google (41 percent), Microsoft (40 percent), and Apple (39 percent).
The Mark Zuckerberg-owned company stands last in the poll basis factors such as leadership, ethics, trust, and image.
Just as a reminder, the above ranking can be accredited to the recent Facebook data breach fiasco which led to unauthorized access to personal data of around 87 million users by Cambridge Analytica during the 2016 US Presidential Elections.
Harris Poll CEO John Gerzema said, “Facebook is in the bottom in terms of trust in housing your personal data. Facebook’s crises continue rolling in the news cycle.”
Facebook has declined to comment on the poll.
Additionally, another poll in relation to the users’ perception of the aforementioned tech majors over the past six months suggests that Facebook has gained 48 percent negative votes than the 17 percent positive ones.
Amazon tops the poll with 39 percent positive votes as compared to 10 percent negative ones.
Apple has 25 percent positive and 14 percent negative votes, followed by Microsoft with 23 percent positive and 7 percent negative votes, and Google with 28 percent positive and 16 percent negative votes.
