It is time for the “Tesla Model S Vs Acura NSX.” Don’t make any mistakes, it is an important drag race battle between an electric car and a Hybrid vehicle.

Brooks from “DragTimes” uploaded a video of a drag race between these two monsters of green and sustainable energy and we are here to talk about it.

Tesla Model S vs Acura NSX Drag Race

Before we begin, it is time to introduce the contenders and what kind of power each one of them is packing. Firstly we have the Tesla Model S P100D, the latest and greatest of electric cars. It comes with an All-Wheel Drive system, a 100kWh battery, and two powerful electric motors. All of this enables the Tesla Model S to go from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. The Tesla Model S P100D costs $100,000.

On the other hand, we have a modified Acura NSX hybrid car. In stock condition, the NSX makes about 573 HP using a 3.5-liter turbo V8 petrol engine. However, this Acura NSX hybrid vehicle comes with a full exhaust system and an engine tune, allowing it to produce about 700 HP. Acura NSX is priced at $157,000 stock.

The NSX comes with three electric motors in total, one is situated between the two wheels. Each of the front two-wheels has one electric motor powering them individually. As a result, the car offers All-Wheel-Drive functionality.

The brakes on the NSX use fly-by-wire technology, meaning they are operated electronically. The brakes use regenerative braking to charge the electric battery onboard the car.

All of this equipment, give the Acura NSX a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds (in stock mode) and a top speed of 191 mph.

Talking about the drag race, it was pretty neck-to-neck but you’ll have to watch it yourself to find out who the winner was.

I can tell you that during the first round, the Tesla Model S crushed the Acura NSX. The Model S finished the quarter-mile drag race at 10.61 seconds while the NSX came in at 10.91 seconds.

How Good Is The Honda Acura NSX?

Acura NSX or Honda NSX, as it is known in Britain, is a relatively affordable hybrid supercar. Some of the other hybrid supercars are Laferrari, Porsche 918 Spyder, etc and those cost 8 times as much as the Honda NSX.

However, Brooks wasn’t as impressed with the performance of the Acura NSX as he was hoping. The upcoming McLaren hybrid supercar might be a better performer than the Acura NSX, according to him.

Overall, the Honda Acura NSX is a great car to buy. It is a critically acclaimed car and comes with a hybrid powertrain which is also a plus point. Go for it if you have $150k in your pocket, or go for a Tesla for $100k. Either way, you’ll be taking home a winner.
