Samsung To Launch $1,100 “Budget” Foldable Smartphone: Rumor
Popular leakster Max Weinbach has spilled some beans regarding Samsung’s rumored foldable smartphone dubbed Galaxy Fold Lite. Via his Twitter handle, Weinbach posted some rumored specifications of the device.
The Galaxy Fold Lite could be a 4G smartphone with 256GB storage and a smaller secondary display on the outside on the lines of Galaxy Z Flip. It’s expected to arrive in two color options: Mirror Black and Mirror Purple. There is no information available on the size of the display, although the device could arrive in a form factor similar to the original Galaxy Fold.
However, the budget Samsung foldable will cut corners by dropping the trademarked Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) display tech that was last seen on the Galaxy Z Flip. UTG is a super-thin layer of glass applied on top of foldable displays made out of plastic. While it might avoid scratches, it scores negative points for making the device more expensive.

Galaxy Fold Lite could come with a price tag of $1,099, and it’s expected to have an Aluminum chassis with glass on the outside. The price might be high for some buyers, still, it would be called a budget device when talking about foldable smartphones.
Weinbach further revealed that the device would be available internationally, and there are chances it could feature a Snapdragon 865 SoC under-the-hood.
Samsung is known to be working on at least three foldable devices at the moment, with Galaxy Fold E being one of the devices.
Anyway, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt as more rumors and leaks would arrive in the coming days. “I would also like to say, this is more rumor than a leak. I believe it’s real but I’d still say rumor,” Weinbach tweeted.
