PS Plus Free Games For December 2021 Revealed

ps plus december 2021 free games

After a relatively humble lineup last month, Sony has returned with a better set of PS Plus free games for December. Closing out the year will be Godfall: Challenger Edition, Lego DC Super-villains, and Mortal Shell.

On the PlayStation Blog, the console giant announced that the titles above will be free to claim for PS Plus subscribers between December 7, 2021, and January 3, 2022. Additionally, the previous month’s batch of VR games will be up for grabs until January 3 as well.

The lineup for this month is a clear improvement over last month’s free games that mainly included less popular titles. From fantasy RPG to an open-world game, there’s a decent variety for the PlayStation community to enjoy.

PS Plus Games For December 2021

Godfall: Challenger Edition

One of the games that kicked off the PS5 era, Godfall is an esthetically rich game that makes good use of next-gen capabilities. It is a looter-slasher RPG set in a “high fantasy” world, where you take on the mantle of a high-ranking knight. The PS Plus freebie, Godfall: Challenger Edition, packs endgame-level modes, Lightbringer, Dreamstone, and the Ascended Tower of Trials, minus the story campaign.

The gameplay revolves around the hard-hitting melee offense, which is shown from a third-person perspective. Your primary tasks include scavenging loot to unlock superior gear and using it to defeat gruesome foes. The arsenal available in the game covers every melee weapon from the longsword to the two-handed war hammer. You can put these to use with up to two other players in co-op.

Challenger Edition gives you the option to start directly from “Player Level 50” so that you can get a headstart with strong weapons and skill points. If you eventually want to play the story mode, you may upgrade the game to Deluxe Edition, which contains the base game and the Fire & Darkness expansion.

Mortal Shell

Mortal Shell is another action RPG but with a compelling single-player story campaign. It introduces you to a world ridden with evil and adversaries, where survival of the strongest is the law of the land. Your mission is to track down hidden sanctums, possess the power of fallen warriors, and defeat any threat on your way.

It is an action RPG with a heavy focus on strategic melee combat. Your attacks depend majorly on successful blocking, parrying, and counter-attacking. Taking over the shell of another warrior gives you a different set of abilities. You can combine these powers and weapons to vanquish the enemies lurking in the game’s world.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Unlike the two intense titles mentioned above, this PS Plus freebie takes a light-hearted approach to action. Lego DC Super-villains shows a world where there’s no Justice League, and the supervillains have united as “Justice Sydicate” to save the day instead. You get to create your supervillain and uncover the true reason behind this change of heart.

The game is an open-world action-adventure campaign filled with challenges and puzzles. You can choose to either do the story mission or free-roam in an array of iconic settings from DC Comics. These locations include Gotham City, Metropolis, Apokolips, etc. As you progress through the story, you unlock new superpowers and customization options for your character. Moreover, it also features popular DC villains such as Joker, Harley Quinn, Darkseid, Doomsday, Poison Ivy, and more.

Finally, December’s free games wrapped up the PS Plus catalog for 2021, which was quite good in terms of quality. If you haven’t already, make sure to claim November’s games before December 6. First Class Trouble, Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-reckoning and Knockout City will leave PS Plus this week.
