High-end iPhones To Be Assembled In India Next Year
Taiwanese company Foxconn is set to begin production of top-end Apple iPhone models in India, preferably in early 2019.
According to a report by Reuters, the company is likely to manufacture the high-end iPhone X series in India which will happen at Foxconn’s plant in Sriperumbudur town in Tamil Nadu.
Foxconn will provide around INR 25 billion for the investment in its Indian plant which is likely to create up to 25,000 job opportunities in the country.
While some of the close sources declined any comment on the same, other sources suggested that the news is indeed true.
For those who have forgotten, Foxconn previously manufactured the budget iPhone SE in India, back in 2016 which still hasn’t received a successor after several rumors and leaks. Additionally, the company had assembled the iPhone 6S models as well via Wistron in Bengaluru.
Additionally, Apple’s major sales rely on the budget iPhone models in India. However, other details regarding the Indian manufacturing of high-end iPhones still remain unknown.
Once Apple begins doing so, it can attract more customer base from India, given the lower costs of the devices which otherwise are on the pricier end.
