Apple Releases New iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS Versions To Fix “Text Bomb” Bug
Just last week, we told you how a single character “text bomb” was able to crash your iPhones, Macs, and other Apple devices. Acting well on its promise to release an update for this bug before the big iOS 11.3 release, the company has pushed updates for all its operating systems.
Due to this bug, communication and web browsing apps were the most affected ones as people were deliberately sharing the text bomb with others. Now the update for all platforms is here and the users are advised to grab them at the earliest.
As per Apple’s support page, the latest versions of Apple operating systems which remain secure are —
- iOS 11.2.6
- macOS 10.13.3
- tvOS 11.2.5
- watchOS 6.2.3
Apart from the Telugu language character issue, Apple also fixed another bug that caused the failure of third-party apps while connecting to external accessories. This release is expected to be followed by iOS 11.3, which will feature performance throttling controls. You can sign up for beta testing and get this feature right now.
This update and bug come in the wake of the recent decision made by Apple bosses to slow down the pace of iOS development. It’ll allow their engineers to focus on quality and push the new features to future releases. It makes sense as Apple was forced to release a couple of other bug fixes in recent months.
