All You Need To Know About Intel Pentium Silver And Celeron Chips: Gemini Lake Is Here
For the low-cost and high battery life devices, Intel has launched the follow up to Atom-based Apollo Lake chips. The company has launched Pentium Silver and Pentium Celeron processors; they are a part of the new Gemini Lake line, which was reported earlier this month.
The new chips launched are:
- Intel Pentium Silver N5000 for mobile; J5005 for desktop
- Intel Celeron N4100 and N4000 for mobile; J4105 and J4005 for desktop
As per Intel’s claims, Pentium Silver will give 58% better performance when compared to a similar 4-year-old PC. With Silver and Celeron, the company has also brought Gigabit WiFi capability. Thanks to the standard of 2×2 802.11AC with 160MHz channels, users will be able to get faster download speeds. Here are some more interesting numbers:
- 8GB HD movie download in one minute
- Up to 10 hrs of HD playback binging on 35WHr battery without recharge
To enhance the multimedia content watching experience in lit rooms, Intel has added a new display tech named Local Adaptive Contrast Enhancement (LACE).
The company has also added a new extension to its lineup for differentiating between performance levels. While Pentium Silver would be the new processors based on Gemini Lake, Pentium Gold would be the high-performance and Kaby Lake-based chips which are already in the market.
