Pixel 2 Problems: Google Promises 2-Year Warranty For Every Pixel 2 Phone
Now, the company has responded in a post made on the Pixel User Community forum. Mario Queiroz, Product Management VP at Google Hardware, said that their investigation of the problem revealed that differential aging (aka burn-in) in Pixel 2 devices is similar to OLED panels in comparable products.
“Our current investigation of burn-in, which started as soon as we received the first user report on October 22, confirms that the differential aging is in line with that of other premium smartphones and should not affect the normal, day-to-day user experience of the Pixel 2 XL.”
The company will take the software road to improve user experience and maximize the battery life of the OLED display.
Addressing the reports of less color saturation, Mario said a software update is on the way to add an option to enable 10% more colors on Pixel 2 devices. Google went for a relatively narrow color gamut to make the colors look more natural, but Android users aren’t much used to that.
Overall, Google has tried to calm down the criticism by offering a 2-year worldwide warranty for every Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phone.
