Huawei Mate 30 Series: With Impressive Cameras, Without Google Apps
After a number of leaks and rumors, Huawei has officially brought the Mate 30 series to our tables.
Huawei has announced five new smartphones in its Mate 30 series, namely, the Mate 30, the Mate 30 Pro, the Mate 30 5G, the Mate 30 Pro 5G, and the Mate 30 RS Porsche Design Edition.
Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro
The new Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro come with a new design ethos, improved cameras, and specs, which makes the devices competitive enough in the premium segment.
While the Mate 30 sports a 6.62-inch Full HD+ OLED notched display, the Mate 30 Pro has a 6.53-inch Full HD+ waterfall display. The Mate 30 Pro’s display resembles the Samsung Galaxy S10 series’ display, making space for more display area.
The cameras on both smartphones are their primary highlights. The Mate 30 has three rear snappers: a 40MP SuperSensing main camera, a 16MP Ultra Wide Angle Snapper, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. The front snapper stands at 24MP.
The Mate 30 Pro, on the other hand, has four rear shooters: a 40MP SuperSensing Cine main sensor, a 40MP Ultra Wide Angle sensor, a 16MP telephoto lens, and a 3D Depth Sensor. The one at the front is rated at 32MP.
Apart from the impressive camera configurations, the Mate 30 Pro has camera capabilities that can help it mark a stand in the mobile world, it supports Ultra low-light photography, Ultra Wide Angle time-lapse videos, and Ultra-slow motion. The Ultra-slow motion supports 7680fps video recording, making the rumors true.
As for the other specs, both smartphones come with Kirin 990 processor, IP68 certification, 8GB of RAM, and EMUI 10 based on Android 10. While the new Android OS is there, the smartphones don’t come with Google apps, which could act as a drawback for the new smartphones and I hope Huawei does something about it.
While the Mate 30 has 128GB of ROM and a 4,200mAh battery, the Mate 30 Pro has an increased 256GB of internal storage and 4,500mAh battery capacity. Both smartphones support 40W SuperCharge fast charging and 27W wireless fast charging, which is an added highlight.
Additionally, the Huawei Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro are colored in Cosmic Purple, Space Silver, Emerald Green, and Black colors.
Huawei Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 Pro 5G
Huawei has also unveiled the 5G variants of the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro — the Mate 30 5G and the Mate 30 Pro 5G.
Both the 5G variants share the same spec-sheet as the original models, except the 5G variants come with Kirin 990 5G processors and the new Orange and Forest Green color variants.
Huawei Mate 30 RS Porsche Design Edition
The Huawei Mate 30 series also has a Porsche Design variant (as usual) called the Mate 30 RS Porsche Design.
The smartphone has most of the specs reminiscent of the Mate 30 Pro. However, it comes with 5G support, an increase of 12GB of RAM, 512GB of onboard storage, and a Kirin 990 5G processor.
Huawei Mate 30 Series Price and Availability
The Huawei Mate 30 is priced at €799 and the Mate 30 Pro retails for €1,099. The Mate 30 Pro 5G comes with a price tag of €1,199 but there’s no word on the Mate 30 5G’s price. Additionally, the Mate 30 RS is priced at €2,095.
