Mi A3 launched India

Today, the Chinese tech giant has finally launched the much-anticipated Xiaomi Mi A3 in India. Last month, the device was unveiled for the European market for a price tag of €250, with the same name.

In India, Xiaomi Mi A3 is priced at Rs 12,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant and Rs 15,999 for the 6GB/128 GB variant. It will come in three colors — Not Just Blue, More Than White, and Kind of Gray. The phone will be available on Amazon and Mi stores starting from August 23.

Similar to previous iterations, Xiaomi Mi A3’s USP is that it is running Android One. In order words, the device pretty much looks like a Google Pixel device. It will get faster Android updates and support from Google. At the time of launch, it is running on Android 9 Pie but it will get Android 10 Q post its release.

Xiaomi Mi A3 has a 6.1″ OLED screen with a drop notch at the top. It runs on Qualcomm  Snapdragon 665. Apart from this, there are three major upgrades from the last year’s model — camera, battery, and a new fingerprint sensor.

The new Xiaomi Mi A3 comes with whopping 4,030mAh battery, up from 3000mAh form Mi A2. Then we have an in-display fingerprint sensor, unlike the capacitive fingerprint sensor mounted on the previous generations.

The biggest update in the device is the camera. It features a triple camera setup — a Sony IMX586 48MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Additionally, the camera module can record 2160p video at 30fps or 1080p video quality up to 120fps. On the front, the device holds a 32MP camera setup.

However, there is one major downgrade in Xiaomi Mi A3 from the last generation. While the Xiaomi A3 holds an AMOLED display, it only offers a resolution 720p resolution (720×1,560). Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, both have LCD screens but they offer full HD+ display.

Given the tough competition, compromising on the screen can be seen as a heavy blow to the Mi A3 sales.
