YouTube Now Lets You Watch ‘Free With Ads’ Hollywood Movies
YouTube has introduced new ad-supported options to watch full-length Hollywood movies for free. The video platform has made more than 100 movies ‘free with ads‘ — as they are officially labeled.
While the collection is relatively small, there are some notable ones that you can watch like The Terminator, Rocky, Legally Blonde, Pink Panther, All Dogs Go To Heaven and much more!
But don’t set your expectations too high as you won’t find anything super new, and the selection so far includes a mix of blockbuster hits and cult favorites.
The video platform began releasing Hollywood movies for free on YouTube Movies channel in October. Users have traditionally purchased or rented movies from this channel, but now they can watch Hollywood movies for free with commercial ads and popups in between.
YouTube did not disclose its deal with the studios or how it splits the ad revenue with them. But Rohit Dhawan, YouTube’s director of product management, hinted towards companies sponsoring individual movie in the future.
While YouTube is new to this kind of feature, other video streaming sites like Sony Crackle and Tubi TV are already offering free movies and TV shows to users for many years now.
