Microsoft hosted a special event on Tuesday to talk more about their version of AR and VR combination, which they prefer to call Windows Mixed Reality. At the event, Microsoft also showed off how Windows Mixed Reality headsets are going to change our lives.

Kinect and Hololens daddy Alex Kipman talked about the future of their futuristic platform. Microsoft has started working with SteamVR; the virtual reality social platform AltspaceVR is also joining the Microsoft team.

Windows Mixed Reality is set to arrive with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on October 17. Users would be able to enjoy Microsoft’s huge catalog of around 20,000 apps and games on Microsoft Store.


To enjoy the virtual world created by Microsoft, you need to have a Mixed Reality headset. Also, you need a PC with a capable hardware. Microsoft has released a tool which can help you make sure that your PC supports Windows MR.

Equipped with headphone and dual array mics, headset allows a 110-degree field of view and has a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. Various sensors onboard include compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, and IPD sensor.
