Why Apple Fans Have Now Begun To Hate Apple

apple clothing lineShort Bytes: Apple — the company which was famous for sticking to the quality — is gaining more popularity in terms of complaints. Some of these include issues related to reliability, unused apps, degrading quality of the software and hardware, and complaints not being taken care properly on the Apple’s forum.

In the recent times, a lot of complaints are coming from the Apple device users about the degrading quality of the Apple’s devices iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. These complaints include:

  • Discontent of the users with the core apps (Not only OS X but also iOS)
  • programs and services such as iTunes, Music, iCloud and Photos not working properly and not linking reliably with the Apple devices.
  • Programs crashing automatically
  • Battery issue
  • OS upgrade with a lot of loopholes
  • Apple watch burning the skin

It has also been noticed that many Apple watchers are also joining this chorus against the Apple products. Some of the other complaints by these Apple watchers are that the company has been pushing new apps that consumers don’t want to use while its traditional programs have yielded to better offerings by non-Apple developers.

For example, the apps like iCloud Mail, iCloud Drive or the default iOS Notes or Reminders apps are not so user-friendly and are being less used by the Apple users than the third party app like Gmail, Dropbox, Wunderlist, Evernote and so on.

People whose work depends on PDFs, have the biggest personal complaint which involves Preview, a program that comes with every iMac and MacBook for reading and annotating PDFs and other page and image files. So, Preview’s excellent features for highlighting and annotating them make it a must-use. But Preview crashes all the time. It commonly freezes or shuts down, sometimes taking the entire computer with it, when asked to render pages that Adobe Acrobat reader, the leading third-party PDF program, handles with ease.

Apple’s forum is filled with complaints about Preview faults but Apple does not even acknowledge the complaints, over three or four successive releases of new operating systems.

Moreover, every new release by this company is being termed as ‘Faulty release’ these days. This grudge against Apple is increasing day after day. Hope Apple would also like to listen to its users one day.

I can foresee the downfall of Apple in the long run, now that Jobs is not around anymore. He was the one, who brought up the company to where it is… and with him gone, it won’t be the same. They seem to be stagnating. They just don’t have that innovative power anymore. Jobs was a visionary, had a unique taste… and not the company itself.

Here’s the thing. I am a long time Apple user, I’m also an Enterprise IT Professional, what ever that means, and it’s articles like this that are really making me hate tech “news” sites.

I am a crazy user I have and iPhone 6s, we have two iPhone 6, one iPhone 5s, and one iPhone 5. We have an OS X Server running on a Mac Mini. We have another 2012 MacMini as a Plex server going out to three Gen 4 Apple TV’s. We have three 2014 MacBook Pro’s, one MacBook AIR 11” and one 13”. Three iPad Pro’s, two iPad Mini’s, one iPad Air and one iPad Air 2. We are one Apple’s Family Plan 1TB iCloud storage, Music Match, Apple Music Family.

So with that said I’m not sure where to start on this one…but let’s begin:

“Discontent of the users with the core apps (Not only OS X but also iOS) programs and services such as iTunes, Music, iCloud and Photos not working properly and not linking reliably with the Apple devices.”

There has ALWAYS been a very vocal bunch who dislike the way iTunes works. We get that. Apple’s focus has been that rather than waste time and effort to rip iTunes apart eliminate it! I don’t know when the last time I opened iTunes was. With the exception of ripping and local sync of music or backup there’s no reason to use iTunes. iCloud backup and Apple Music are such that I can’t tell you the last time I opened iTunes.

Music on iOS was a BIG change in the way it looked and worked. AGAIN a vocal segment of users don’t like change and have expressed their displeasure. But it works great and if you take the time to learn it and not make assumptions as to how it works based upon the past you’ll think so too. We have 23,812 ripped and purchased songs and now an Apple Music subscription and again…all is well and works great. Including bluetooth across five cars and multiple devices.

Photos was again a BIG UI and functionality change. Again some dislike it from the start. It’s not as forgiving to corrupted or bad meta data tags and the like. People mistake these issues for problems with the program and not with their photos where we have 17,000 photos across multiple devices.

    “Programs crashing automatically”

This isn’t even a sentence with meaning. Programs DO NOT crash “automatically” they may crash however! I haven’t had a program “crash” in a long time. Since nothing but a general claim is made here I can’t even respond.

    “Battery issue”

What battery issue are you speaking of? AGAIN as a reader I am left with nothing here. I think I’m pretty good on battery with all my devices so I would be interested.

“OS upgrade with a lot of loopholes”

huh? I don’t know what this author is talking about here so let’s move on…

    “Apple watch burning the skin”

Really? Are we dragging that old news article up? There was ONE guy who faked it in Denmark and out of millions of users a few with allergic reactions they thought were burns.

“For example, the apps like iCloud Mail, iCloud Drive or the default iOS Notes or Reminders apps are not so user-friendly”

Where do you get this data point from? These apps are fine! The others you mention people use because they provide functionality Apple’s do not including cross-platform features. Another big claim made with no specifics.

“But Preview crashes all the time. It commonly freezes or shuts down, sometimes taking the entire computer with it”

Ok…FINALLY a specific and I can say this has NEVER happened to me or anyone in the house that I am aware of. I also searched Apple’s forums and used the Google and found some posts where people had issues, corrupt fonts, preferences, etc., nothing wide spread or something that millions of users were seeing. It’s not fun when it happens to you but contrary to this article’s supposition crashing Preview is not wide spread.

“Moreover, every new release by this company is being termed as ‘Faulty release’ these days.”

Guess what? EVERY release since Mac OS 1.0 has come with issues. Some are bugs, some are issues that are the result of prior issues, some are 3rd party software issues, some are fixed quickly and some, to my displeasure, linger longer than I would like. But the thing is that’s what happens with EVERY software update! Every platform and every application! It’s ALWAYS been the case! So here’s some education for you all. If you can’t handle it DON’T UPGRADE. Wait to see if there are any issues or concerns raised. But regardless PLEASE back up as you might be the one with the unique set of conditions that cause an issue and you’ll be glad you can go back if needed.

So the take away from this article is a random series of claims all of which other than the “burn watch” I believe are true for some users and happen! No doubt! I take issue with the blanket statements made that these issues are anything more than the typical issues some users have and have always had with Mac OS X, iOS, Windows, Android, etc.

Sorry but the sky is not falling…

While I don’t mind using my ipod touch in my vehicle.. I absolutely hate iTunes with a passion. It’s so clumsy to use. I dread adding music to it. Wish it worked like a thumb drive where I could just drag and drop files.
