Maruti Suzuki is likely to begin supplying its Brezza SUV to the Toyota Kirloskar motor in the second half of 2020.

Maruti Brezza will be the second vehicle after Baleno to be renamed under the Toyota badge. Maruti Baleno was re-launched as the Toyota Glanza in June 2019, with slight interior changes. However, the upcoming Toyota badged Maruti Brezza SUV will launch with interior and exterior changes.

Toyota Kirloskar is the subsidiary of Toyota Motors, Japan, for manufacturing and sales in India. Additionally, the compact SUV will be renamed ‘Urban Cruiser’ under the Toyota logo.

Back in early 2019, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki collaborated and made a deal to share cross badged models.

The report suggests, along with the essence of Toyota in the interior, there will be more changes to the exterior compared to the previously launched Glanza.

Majorly, the front grille and bumpers will be redesigned. The rest of the body, including alloy wheels, will likely remain the same.

What remains unknown are the variants that Toyota will include. In the case of Glanza, the company decided only to launch the upper variants. However, the upper variants were launched at a lower price tag than Baleno.

Toyota Glanza is available both in the manual as well as CVT transmission. In addition, there is also a hybrid variant that uses the Smart Hybrid Vehicle By Suzuki (SHVS) technology.

Similarly, we expect the Brezza Urban Cruiser to be available in both manual and automatic transmission. Since Maruti has launched a hybrid variant of Brezza, there will be a hybrid Urban Cruiser too.

However, only the automatic version of the Maruti Brezza is equipped with smart hybrid technology. Apart from this, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will have the same 1.5-liter petrol engine that powers Brezza.

If we talk about pricing, Maruti Brezza starts at Rs. 7.34 lakh (ex-showroom), and for the mid variant, it’s 8.35 (ex-showroom).  However, considering the previous pattern with Glanza, the company will launch mid-variant with a price tag of around Rs. 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
