After the diagnostic reports of iOS 12 Beta hinted towards a new iPhone with dual-SIM setup, a new set of rumors says that the iPhone might be exclusive to China.
According to a report by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, the employees of Foxconn, the company that assembles iPhone, says that the iPhone model featuring dual sim setup might launch only in China.
As per the employees, there are four new hardware that will be launched by Apple this September. The devices have been codenamed as 801, 802, 803, and 804 which is contrary to the reports that suggest that there will be three iPhone models this year.
There are speculations that the models with codename 801 and 802 would have a stainless steel frame and OLED screen measuring 5.8 inches and 6.5 inches.
803 and 804 codenames are assigned to 6.1 inch iPhone models with LCD screens. Both the phones with the same screen size would have “double card dual standby” feature.
The reason behind the ‘China-only’ versions of upcoming iPhone models is the fact that the majority of Chinese population uses more than one sim card and most of the smartphones in the country are equipped with dual sim dual standby feature.
China is one of the most important marketplaces for iPhones; so, Apple’s decision seems plausible.
Nonetheless, there are plenty of rumors floating around which suggest that this year, Apple could debut a dual sim iPhone.
