Spotify Said To Be Working On A Video Player: Report
One of the most popular music streaming platforms, Spotify, is soon going to roll out music videos feature. The video player of Spotify will have a face-off with YouTube music that also provides music videos.
As said in MacRumors, the video player will be added to the Now Playing screen of the app. The Now playing screen offers various content while a user is listening to a track.
Spotify Video Player and Canvas
The three new tabs including album art, canvas, and video will comprise of different content related to a particular track. The album art tab will consist of the regular album art or the signature image of an album.
The canvas is going to be a brand new thing for the users as it will consist of looping video clips or relatable animations for a particular track. Spotify vs YouTube Music
Spotify has already topped the charts and is one of the most used music streaming platforms as of now. It also offers a three-month free trial which plays a major role in attracting user base.
As of now, it has a user base of more than 286 million users and around 130 million subscribers all over the world.
On the other hand, YouTube Music, being a new player only has 20 million subscribers as of now which is drastically less than Spotify.
The only thing which made YouTube Music stand out of the crowd was music video integration and it was expected that this feature will play a major role in boosting YouTube Music.
As per the speculations, Spotify’s video player launch is going to have adverse effects on YouTube Music. Moreover, it can also attract the existing audience of YouTube Music.
However, it will be interesting to see what YouTube Music will do to tackle the situation and compete with Spotify.
