After working hard for 3 months following the release of the Manjaro 16.10 Fringilla, the Manjaro Linux team has announced the next rolling release Manjaro 17.0 in the name of Gellivara.

Manjaro 17.0 major features and changes

The stock kernel on the latest Manjaro 17.0 release has been updated to Linux Kernel 4.9 LTS. One can choose between Manjaro’s variety of kernel options — using the updated Manjaro Settings Manager — which now include kernel 4.10. Also, the automatic hardware detection MHWD has been updated to take extra care of the libglx library.

Manjaro 17.0 Xfce edition now comes with version 4.12 of the lightweight Xfce desktop environment and features the Maia theme which debuted with the Fringilla release. The KDE edition — with the default Vertex-Maia theme — comes the Plasma 5.9 desktop with KDE Apps 16.12.3, and KDE Framework 5.31. Both KDE and Xfce editions of Manjaro 17.0 Gellivara feature an updated Xorg stack v1.19 along with various updated and new themes.
