Elon Musk Loves Anime; Says It’s Time To Build Giant ‘Mecha’ Robots
Yesterday, Elon Musk revealed another aspect of his eccentric nature — he loves anime! Perhaps even too much, because he is planning to build a giant fighting anime robot known as ‘Mecha’ in the anime world.
Musk declared his love for anime by posting the trailer of a romantic fantasy drama anime ‘Your Name’ on Twitter.

This tweet was followed by another one that said: “It’s time to create a mecha” — clearly indicating his obsession for anime.

It turns out Musk also appreciates modern classics by Hayao Miyazaki like ‘Princess Mononoke,’ ‘Spirited Away’ and, more importantly, ‘Evangelion’ — a plot based on teen angst and giant fighting robot humanoids.
But taking recent incidents into account, a tweet like this one can be laughed off as a joke. However, Elon Musk is known for his ‘mad inventor’ personality that makes us think he might actually be serious.
I mean, the Boring Company initially started as a joke, and now it’s a real enterprise that has undertaken a massive tunneling project in Los Angeles.
In fact, The Boring Company is also in the business of selling impractical weapons like the flamethrower which turned out to be a successful venture. Not to mention that the idea of flamethrower also started as a joke reference to the movie Space Balls.
Recently, he tweeted another plan for making ‘Teslaquila,’ a Tesla manufactured Tequila. But then we also know that not all of his tweets are serious, and he recently landed himself into trouble by tweeting about taking Tesla private for $420 a share.
Not only did the aftermath of the lawsuit cost him $20 million but also took away the chairman’s seat along with some of his Twitter liberty.
