New Piracy Kings And KickassTorrents Alternatives — The Pirate Bay And ExtraTorrent
Short Bytes: After the demise of KickassTorrents, internet pirates are looking for alternatives. The majority of them have flocked to other top torrent websites like ExtraTorrent and The Pirate Bay. ExtraTorrent has shared more detail on the same, reporting a 300% increase in the website traffic.
Before KickassTorrents went offline, it was the world’s most popular torrent website with a worldwide Alexa rank of 69, beating the likes of BBC and Alibaba. While we have seen the advent of multiple KickassTorrents mirrors and a new community formed by its original staffers, the original pirate website is nowhere to be seen.
As a result, the torrent users have now started looking for KickassTorrents alternatives. Talking about such website (and the beneficiaries from the ban), The Pirate Bay looks like the biggest alternative.
It’s interesting to note that The Pirate Bay faced a similar experience back in 2014 when it went offline for a month. Then, TPB users flocked to KAT.
Expressing the support, a TBP staffer told TF:
TBP also hopes that when KickassTorrents will be back, its loyal fans will be there for the website, just like TPB.
Now coming to the second largest KickassTorrents alternative, ExtraTorrent has maintained its position as one of the most famous players in the torrent world.
Just like KAT, ExtraTorrent cultivates active forums and large user base, making it another obvious choice after the demise of KickassTorrents. A website admin has mentioned about 200% sign up and 300% traffic jump at ExtraTorrent.
Other torrent websites too are seeing a small spike in the traffic. These developments also show that torrent community has tons of options and the demise of KAT isn’t stopping them anytime soon.
