SpaceX’s Starlink Premium Will Offer 500Mbps For $500/Month [Pricey]
SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service is starting to look a little pricey. SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced the new high-performance service tier called Starlink Premium. The premium tier will give users a larger high-performance antenna and internet speed between 150 and 500Mbps (20 to 40ms latency).
In comparison, Starlink’s standard service offers internet speeds between 50 and 250Mbps (20 to 40ms latency). SpaceX’s Starlink premium also claims to give users almost double the upload speeds at 20 to 40Mbps, up from 10 to 20Mbps for the standard tier.
SpaceX’s Starlink Premium Performance
In addition to fast speeds, Starlink premium will give its customers 24/7 prioritized support. The company also promises that the premium service will perform better in extreme weather conditions.
Installation Cost
It seems even the installation for SpaceX’s Starlink premium is quite costly. The standard service costs $499 for the hardware and $99/month. Starlink Premium will cost $2,500 for the larger high-performance antenna and $500 a month. As for the final cost, it also includes tax, shipping, and handling fees.
Users will also have to submit a $500 to reserve a Premium dish. The service is available for pre-order right now, with deliveries starting in the second quarter of this year. According to Starlink’s website, the premium tier is meant for small offices, storefronts, and super users across the globe.
