MediaTek Just Showcased The Demo Of Wi-Fi 7, And The Speeds Are Mind-Boggling
It’s been a while since Wi-Fi 6E’s launch, and it seems tech giants like MediaTek are already gearing up for Wi-Fi 7 as the company showcased the first live demo of the same to consumers and industry specialists. The critical aspects of Wi-Fi 7 are increased speeds (of course) and lower latency transmission.
For starters, MediaTek has contributed a lot to Wireless networking with its networking chipsets and is, most of the time, the fastest to lay the groundwork for future iterations of technologies.
Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business at MediaTek said, “The rollout of Wi-Fi 7 will mark the first time that Wi-Fi can be a true wireline/Ethernet replacement for super high-bandwidth applications.”
He also added that “MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 7 technology will be the backbone of home, office and industrial networks and provide seamless connectivity for everything from multi-player AR/VR applications to cloud gaming and 4K calls to 8K streaming and beyond.”
Wi-Fi 7 will boast the highest speeds supported by the IEEE 802.11be, and we’ll also see the MLO (Multi-link Operation) technology in action. MediaTek says that MLO will play a massive role in delivering faster speeds while streaming and gaming and will make AR/VR apps/gaming quicker and smoother.
The giant also claims that the Wi-Fi 7 standard will operate in 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands and will deliver 2.4 times the speed of Wi-Fi 6 with the same number of antennas since it works on 320Mhz channels. Routers and devices powered by Wi-Fi 7 are expected to come out in the market in 2023.
