New OLED Nintendo Switch With DLSS Support: Rumored For Sept 2021
According to Bloomberg’s report, Nintendo might release a newer version of its handheld console Switch in September 2021. Nintendo upgraded its 7-inch console to foothold in the market in response to Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X. The Japanese electronics company seemingly plans to start the manufacturing for the new Switch with DLSS by July.
As per reports, this switch might be announced before the global video game event, E3, which starts on June 12. This would allow publishers and Nintendo to showcase their full range of Nintendo Switch games running on the new hardware.
The newer version of Nintendo Switch will feature a chip from Nvidia. This Nvidia silicon will allow the console to work with DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology. Moreover, the Nvidia chip would also equip the new Switch for a 4K output to a TV, whereas the current version of Switch sometimes struggles with its native resolution of 720p.
Pricing and other hiccups amid a global shortage of chips
The new Nintendo Switch pricing is likely to go beyond the current $299, considering the new Nvidia hardware and widespread silicon shortage. Furthermore, owing to the rising labor costs in China, the new Switch is expected to be the most expensive to date.
Bloomberg report suggests that the suppliers are confident of maintaining and fulfilling their orders despite the global chip shortage. While the company is planning to start production in July, it is further planned to advance in the last quarter of 2021.
With the advent of the new Nintendo Switch, you could be apprehensive about the older version. Well, the company plans to phase out the current version of the console with time. Interestingly, the upcoming Nintendo Switch will be sold alongside Nintendo Switch Lite.
