Inspired by Tesla, brands like Ford, Volvo, Volkswagen, and Porsche were all moving towards electrification. However, with the onset of Coronavirus, the situation has become grim.

But the hope still lingers on. Several automotive giants are coming together in this tough time to combat this global pandemic. Here’s what you need to know.

Effect of Coronavirus on Tesla Model Y

Tesla delivered its first Model Y in the US, and the electric car received a great response from the customers. Nevertheless, the sale and production of the Model Y will be affected.

Recently, Tesla announced a to production shut down at its Fremont factory in California and Gigafactory in New York from the night of 23rd March 2020.

Recently, the UAW (United Auto Workers) called automakers to stop production due to Coronavirus. In turn, automotive manufacturers like General Motors, Fiat, and Ford, among others in the US, have shut down their production to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, during the initial stage, Tesla was planning to continue electric car production in its factories. Tesla and the Alameda County Sheriff’s office did go back and forth over the continuation of EV production.

However, Tesla finally decided to shut down electric car production at its Fremont factories, while continuing battery cell production at its Nevada Gigafactory.

Initiatives Taken By Tesla And Other Automotive Companies

Apart from business decisions. The big automotive companies are making great efforts and have shown full support to the government. They have opened their arms to help the government in every possible way during these difficult times.

In the UK, the Government is asking its automotive firms to help with manufacturing ventilators. Rolls Royce and other firms said they were looking for a way out on how they could help.

Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk today tweeted that they are working on manufacturing ventilators. Other automotive companies, including Ford and GM, also approached the U.S. government to help build ventilators.

As per some sources, these companies are focusing on providing medical equipment to companies to make sure there is no shortage of stuff in the hospitals.
