Netflix Might Not Let You Share Password With Friends In Future

There is a commonality between all the Netflix accountholders: the Netflix passwords are shared with numerous friends so that binge-watching on Netflix becomes easy for many. However, this very convenient password-sharing could be affected as Netflix is soon to take action against the habit.

Netflix To Regulate Password Sharing

During its Quarter 3 Earnings interview, Netflix has suggested that it is “continuing to monitor” the whole password-sharing scenario.

This means that it will soon limit the number of people we can share our Netflix passwords with. Currently, the number is unlimited.

Netflix CFO Spencer Neumann said, “We’ll continue to look at the situation and we’ll see those consumer-friendly ways to push on the edge of that, but we’ve got no big plans at this point in time in terms of doing something different there.”

However, there is no word as to when and how the new change will take place.

Additionally, Netflix suggested that Q3, 2019 saw the addition of around 6.77 million paid subscribers, resulting in profit for the video-streaming service.

Why the change?

Evidently, Netflix is no fool and is aware that we all try to trick the video-streaming service and rely on others’ Netflix accounts rather than subscribing to the video platform.

Hence, the move will ensure that people pay for Netflix and stop being dependent on other people. This will lead to more paid Netflix subscribers.

However, from the user point-of-view, this might prove problematic for the video platform as it might force users into discontinuing Netflix, given that it is slightly more expensive than its competitors.

As a reminder, Netflix has a limit on how many screens can run simultaneously on a particular Netflix account.
