Trump Calls Autonomous Cars “Crazy” — Won’t Let It Drive Him Around
While self-driving cars are soon to become a thing, the US President – Donald Trump – considers the tech as “crazy” and has the least interest in autonomous vehicles.
According to a report by Axios, four unnamed sources have suggested that Trump has enacted situations of electric vehicles going out of control and running into the walls.
One of the sources suggested that by continuing his habit of using his hands while narrating a story, Trump said, “Can you imagine, you’re sitting in the back seat and all of a sudden this car is zig-zagging around the corner and you can’t stop the f—ing thing?”
It is further claimed that Trump is an automated car skeptic and has the opinion that the concept won’t work.
In another incident wherein Trump met the popular Elon Musk during a 2017 CEO meeting at the White House, Trump told Musk that he has a liking for the traditional cars over the self-driving ones.
Furthermore, at the Bedminster Golf Club, Trump suggested that the concept is cool, however, he doesn’t trust a computer driving him around.
Contradicting Trump’s personal opinions, the US government (led by Elaine Chao, Trump’s transportation secretary) is considering a regulatory body for self-driving cars to support the new evolving technology.
However, the report tips that Trump could show his dislike for the tech could reflect on the final policies for the same.
