iOS 12.1 Flaw Allows Anyone To Access Your Contacts; Here’s A Fix

Apple recently released iOS 12.1 with features such as Group FaceTime, eSIM capabilities in iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr, real-time depth adjustment feature, and a fix for the persistent BeautyGate Issue.

The Cupertino company has come a far way in providing stable updates as compared to the issues users faced in iOS 12. Still, there are some bugs, such as a bug in the latest watchOS that bricked many Apple Watches, that need to be improved.

iOS 12.1 also has a flaw that allows anyone to access your contacts without needing your passcode. The flaw originates due to the new Group FaceTime feature that allows users to add up to 32 participants in a FaceTime call.

As reported by PhoneArena, a man named Jose Rodriguez discovered the flaw and demonstrated how anyone can view contacts in iPhone by initiating a phone call, switching to FaceTime, and then adding the number of participants in the call.

Now, anyone can use the 3D touch to view the contacts. You can see how this flaw works in the video below.

Apple is expected to bring a fix for this issue in the next iOS 12 update. In the meantime, you can prevent your contacts from being accessed by anyone by disabling the Siri Activation in the lock screen. To do so, go to Settings > Siri & Search and then choose Access When Locked.
