The Tesla CEO took to Twitter to declare that its first high-speed transit tunnel is almost complete and ready to run beneath Hawthorne in the Los Angeles area. The public can take free rides on the futuristic, high-speed underground shortcut on the following day that is December 11.

The Boring Company initially started off as a joke on Twitter while Musk was stuck in a traffic jam in Los Angeles. The traffic was driving him crazy so he tweeted that he was going to build a big boring machine and start digging underground tunnels for a faster commute.
And he actually did. The Boring Company released videos on how the tunnels would actually work. Pedestrians, bicycles, and cars would be lowered on platforms and transported through “Pods” that can travel up to 155 miles per hour.
The tunnel in Hawthorne is actually a test tunnel as it lays partly on land owned by Musk. Elsewhere, the proposed tunnels have hit legal blockades.
So maybe Musk is betting on opening this tunnel and inviting the public to try it out. This can actually play well in the court of public opinion; those who experience the hyperloop tunnels might end up supporting it instead of fighting.
While this plan may or may not work, it is certainly a clever plan. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has other grand plans too like building giant Mecha robots inspired by anime, a Cyborg Dragon, and manufacturing candies as well as “Teslaquila” — a Tesla brewed Tequila!
