Maruti Dzire rival the 2020 Skoda Rapid, is here with all the latest updates and cool features. Considering the new BS6 emission norms, the automaker has stopped the production of diesel engines.
The most significant update is regarding the 1.0-liter turbocharged engine that will power the new Rapid.
After discontinuing the diesel engines, the company has decided to incorporate a new 1.0-liter 3-Cyl BS 6 compliant TSI Petrol engine to the 2020 Skoda Rapid.
Apart from some minor changes in the design, there are no other significant modifications

New Small Yet Powerful Engine
The 1.0-liter turbocharged engine remains the same for all variants. Furthermore, all variants use the same 6-speed manual transmission as well.
A 1.0-liter TSI (Turbocharged Spark ignition) three-cylinder petrol engine powers the new Skoda Rapid. Earlier, a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine powered the car.
Though the new engine might be small, the addition of a turbocharger makes it more powerful than before. The new 1.0 TSI engine churns out around 108 BHP and 175 Nm of peak torque.
The turbocharger also increased the mileage of Skoda Rapid to 18.7 km/l.
Exterior
There are no significant tweaks in the design of the new Skoda Rapid. However, unlike the top variants, the base version does not have any LED or projector headlamps. Instead, it comes with simple halogen headlamps.
The Skoda Rapid base variant does not have any fog lamps. However, it still looks cool with those front grills and chrome modded logo.
If you look at the side profile, the entry variant has regular 15″ steel wheels along with wheel caps instead of alloy wheels. Overall, the design looks sober and resembles the older gen Skoda Rapid quite a bit.
Interior
The interior is very much similar to its cousin sedan Volkswagen Vento.
Additionally, if compared with the old BS4 version, the interior design and features of the Skoda Rapid are pretty much the same. However, the fine quality fabric seat cover and dual-tone theme of the interior give it a premium look.
The base variant will not have a push-button start engine option. However, it will have central locking along with features like anti-theft and engine immobilizer.
Additionally, to make driving convenient, Skoda Rapid has features like a driver armrest that can slide and an adjustable steering wheel.
Furthermore, the entry-level 2020 Skoda Rapid has features like Automatic Climate Control, 2-Din Audio System Bluetooth connectivity, Aux, USB connectivity, SD card playing option, and much more.
Safety
All variants, including the base variant, have at least two airbags as standard. In addition, an ABS (anti-lock braking system) and excellent build quality will further bolster the safety of the vehicle.

The price of the base variant of Skoda Rapid starts at Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the on-road price of this base variant in New Delhi will be around Rs. 8.40 lakh.
