Ubisoft Unveils An Avatar Game At E3, And It Looks Beautiful
The biggest video game event of the year, E3, has started, and it has begun with a bang. On day 1 of E3, Ubisoft took the virtual stage with its upcoming games, including Rainbow Six Extraction, Far Cry 6, etc. Surprisingly, Ubisoft also gave us a look at the upcoming Avatar game, based on the film by James Cameron. The initial look at the game has us in its awe, called Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Avatar is the most successful film of all time, for which a sequel is in the making. The Sci-fi adventure film features the planet pandora and its native 10-foot tall blue-colored humanoids, Na’vi, struggling to save their planet from humans searching for a rare element.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
The cinematic reveal shows the beautiful world of Pandora filled with magnificent yet dangerous creatures. In contrast, everything was pleasing in the Pandorian life until the humans arrived in helicopters to extract Pandora for its rich unobtanium reserves.
Interestingly, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be an open-world game, a dream come true for every Avatar fan out there. Ubisoft’s Massive studio will be spearheading the upcoming game with its Snowdrop Engine. The studio, however, will be partnering with Fox Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment. Moreover, the game is being developed for PC and next-gen consoles.
However, this is not the first time Ubisoft has made an Avatar game. In 2009, Ubisoft released James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, aligned with the Avatar movie. However, we believe the upcoming game will make the world of Pandora come alive with better video game graphics technology available.
The surprise announcement didn’t give us a release window, but the game is planned for a 2022 release. Interestingly, a sequel for the film is also scheduled for the same year, hopefully releasing within a short time of one another.
