The 2019 Call of Duty title by Infinity Ward is a reboot of the original Modern Warfare trilogy. Call of Duty Modern Warfare was the best-selling game in 2020, having sold over 30 million copies worldwide. In addition, the game is also the best-selling game of the COD franchise.
The multiplayer of this COD title was good; however, the campaign was the best feature of Modern Warfare. Probably the greatest game of the Call of Duty franchise to date, Modern Warfare captured fans in an engrossing storyline, along with bringing beloved characters to retell the story of COD4:MW in this reboot. All these things make Call of Duty Modern Warfare one of the best COD games.
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Black Ops is considered the greatest game of the entire COD series. COD: BO had a great campaign, an on-point multiplayer with great mechanics and guns. Adding to the popularity of this COD title is the introduction of two iconic characters. Call of Duty Black Ops introduced Gary Oldman as Victor Reznov and Sam Worthington as Alex Mason.
Call of Duty Black Ops was set in the cold war era; the game incorporated historical figures in the storyline; from the likes of Fidel Castro, and JFK, many were there. All in all, Call of Duty Black Ops is among the best Call of Duty games ever produced. In addition, COD: Black Ops also introduced two iconic maps – Firing range and Nuketown, loved by fans to date.
3. Call of Duty: Warzone
Do you think Warzone is Call of Duty’s first game to feature a battle royale? Think again, as it was 2018’s Black Out 4 that first incorporated a battle royale mode called blackout. While blackout was the first, Warzone had the second mover advantage, learning from its predecessor and doing things right. 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
This COD title builds upon its predecessor, COD4: MW. COD: MW2 delivered a fantastic campaign with many memorable moments with some big shoes to fill. Meanwhile, COD: MW2 also introduced the legendary map Rust to COD fans.
Released in 2009 by Infinity Ward, COD: MW2 is the sixth title in the COD series. Moreover, the kill streak concept allowed players to eliminate more enemies. Meanwhile, for the fans of the COD series, COD: MW2 holds a special place in their hearts and is one of the best Call of Duty games.
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
The ninth installment in the Call of Duty series by Treyarch and one of the best COD games ever produced. COD: BO2 is the first game to be launched for the Wii U console in 2012. The game is a direct sequel to COD: BO and turned out to be a landmark in the series; and one of the best Call of Duty games. COD: BO2 introduced a futuristic theme to the multiplayer, which fans loved.
While lots of people would disagree; however, COD: BO2 set the foundation of COD’s multiplayer for the years to come. As the game continued with the Black ops storyline further, the game introduced new characters with the beloved older ones.
6. Call of Duty: WW II
This 2017 first-person shooter by Sledgehammer games went on to become one of the best games of the COD franchise. Call of Duty: WWII is the fourteenth and the second title to feature a World war 2 setting. With a fantastic campaign featuring the unforgettable Normandy invasion, the title became one of the best games in the Call of Duty series.
However, the game’s multiplayer was excellent, with features like boots-on-the-ground gameplay, COD: WWII paved its way to the multiplayer fans’ hearts. Oh, and how can we forget, the game is also infamous for not having automatic health regeneration. For all things better or worse, COD: WWII remains one of the best Call of Duty games.
7. Call of Duty: World At War
The fifth main installment in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty World at War by Treyarch, delivered one of the best COD games. Moreover, this title is known for being the goriest game in the COD series at the time of its release. The campaign focused on the US forces in the pacific and the Russians closing in on Berlin.
However, the fact that the game allowed a 4 player co-op campaign is what made this COD title top tier. In addition, Call of Duty World at War brought Zombies to the gameplay for the first time, and there is no looking back ever since.
