PlayersUnknown’s Battlegrounds, popularly known as PUBG is adversely affecting children’s studies, says a circular ordering the schools to ban the survival game in Gujarat.
The famous Battle Royale genre game has been banned from primary schools in Gujarat by the state primary education department after Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights called for the ban.
The commission has ordered the schools to enforce necessary steps to stop children from playing PUBG in school. As per the circular, the online multiplayer game is affecting the studies of children, and with the approaching board exams, the ban is essential.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also recommended a ban on PUBG across the country.
According to Jagruti Pandya, chairperson of the Gujarat child rights body, “The NCPCR had sent a letter to all the states and recommended a ban on the game. All the states are required to implement it. Looking at the negative effects of the game, we had recently sent a letter to the state government recommending a ban on the game.”
This is not the first case when officials have highlighted the dark side of the game and how it is affecting the mental health and studies of children. Earlier, Vellore Institute of Technology banned students from playing PUBG in the campus.
As the news broke out that Gujarat has become the first state to ban PUBG, several people took to Twitter to express their views. There were mixed reactions with some people citing the game as the reason behind youngsters losing their jobs while others condemned the government for the ban.
Here are the few tweets.
Many youngsters lost their jobs.

Instead of supervising kids and including e-sports, game development courses/activities, teaching students about this new industry, everyone is targeting PUBG.

Dear students,
Please don't waste all your precious time playing @PUBGMOBILE. Focus on your studies also. We don't want #PubgBan because of you as this is the only place where we can slap and shoot people we don't like.
