The official premiere of Plug-in hybrid Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade for the European region will be held on 20th July 2020. As mentioned in our previous article, the new hybrid Compass and Renegade will be sold along with the 4XE badging.
With the upcoming SUVs, the automaker will finally start its hybrid vehicle line-up in the European market. However, the plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade 4XE is already available in the UK.
These hybrid SUVs are also open for booking in France and Italy prior to their official launch.
More About Hybrid Powertrain
The automaker will provide two engine configurations for the upcoming hybrid SUVs, however, with a 6-speed automatic transmission only.
Users will have to choose between a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing an output of either 130 BHP or 180 BHP in addition to an electric motor generating 60 BHP. Hence, the total output will be 190 BHP and 240 BHP, respectively.
Both SUVs will be all-wheel drive in which ICE will power the front wheels, whereas the electric motor will transmit power to the rear axle.
The electric motor will draw its power from an 11.4 kWh battery providing an electric range of 31 miles (50 km).
As per the report of InsideEVs, Jeep Renegade 4XE with the 240 BHP engine can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. Additionally, it can achieve a top speed of up to 200 km/h and 130 km/h in EV-only mode.
With the new hybrid powertrain, both Jeep Compass and Renegade will deliver better performance and comfort on the road. Additionally, there will be less fuel consumption as well as lower CO2 emissions.
There is no official confirmation regarding the price of the Jeep 4XE SUVs. However, in the UK the price of Jeep Renegade 4XE starts at £32,600. With that said, we can safely assume it will be somewhere around Euro 36,000 in other European regions. We’ll update the prices as soon as the automaker announces the official price range.
