The new Jeep Compass will get a hybrid powertrain for the European market along with other updates. In addition to a hybrid engine, the 2020 Jeep compass will offer a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine paired with a dual-clutch transmission and a selective catalytic reduction for its diesel engines to facilitate reduced emissions.
It seems the Jeep is all set to take part in a green recovery plan for Europe. The green recovery plan includes promoting low emissions vehicles to restore the greenery of Europe.
The new 1.3-liter turbo engine will be more powerful and efficient than the currently used 1.4-liter naturally aspirated engine.
As per the sources, the 1.3-liter turbo engine will have two variants based on the type of transmission. When meshed with a six-speed manual transmission, the engine output will be 130 HP.
Whereas when mated with a Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT), the output will further increase to 150 HP and 290 Nm of torque. The 1.4-liter engine, on the other hand, churns out 140 HP and 250 Nm of peak torque.
Additionally, the DDCT variant will have a Sports Mode that will add to the performance of the vehicle. Furthermore, both variants of Jeep Compass will be Front Wheel Drive.
2020 Jeep Compass Hybrid
The new Jeep Compass will likely receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain later in 2020. The hybrid variant will go on sale under the name 4xe. The 4xe model will have hybrid 1.3-liter turbo petrol in combination with an electric motor.
The electric motor will spin the rear wheels, whereas the petrol engine will power the front wheels. With this power distribution, the hybrid Jeep Compass will be AWD.
Similar to non-hybrids, there will be two power output options in hybrid variants too. However, the hybrid variant will be more powerful and have 190 HP as well as 240 HP power options.
However, the specific reason why there will be a change in power output is not explained. Maybe it’s because of the different transmission options, or possibly there will be different battery sizes. Anyway, soon it’ll get clarified.
Additionally, the company has not revealed how efficient the Jeep Compass will be after incorporating an electric motor into it.
Other Updates:
The Jeep Compass will also have a series of minor updates. It will have newly designed alloy wheels. In addition, there will be five color options with an optional black-color sunroof.
Furthermore, a facelift Jeep Compass is due early next year. However, if we talk about the interior, the Jeep compass will get an update to its Uconnect 5 services for all its models. Current Uconnect features include navigation, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto.
Additionally, the new hybrid Jeep will also have a pre-conditioning ability that will eventually improve the fuel economy of the car.
On the other hand, the diesel variant will have a selective catalytic reduction to have fewer CO2 emissions.
Initially, the Hybrid Jeep Compass will be available in the European market only. However, soon it’s expected to be available in other markets, including India too.
