Everything About Pixel 9 Series: Design, Specs, and Price
Even though the Pixel 9 series is months away, Google’s track record of not being able to keep secrets has proven true once again, as a lot of specs about the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro were leaked. Therefore, here is everything you need to know about the Pixel 9 Pro.
When will the Pixel 9 series launch?
While Google officially hasn’t confirmed any dates, reports suggest that the company could unveil the new devices in October.
Pixel 9 Pro: Design and Display
Despite being months away from the launch, renders of the Pixel 9 Pro are already here, and the design is interesting, to say the least. The company seems to be following the path of Samsung, removing every curve on the phone. According to the renders, the Pixel 9 Pro, measuring 162.7 x 76.6 x 8.5mm, will incorporate a flat display and back.
However, perhaps the most interesting thing about the design is the cameras. After establishing its own identity with the camera visor, Google is moving away and replacing it with a rather normal horizontal camera bump, as seen on the Pixel Fold.
As for the display, the Pixel 9 Pro will house a 6.5-inch QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display with a center punch-hole camera and symmetrical bezels.
Specifications
Ever since Google switched to its own Tensor chips, the performance of Pixels has been a bit controversial. This is because while the Tensor chip does allow Google to optimize the phone, the raw performance is often lacking, making it a difficult choice for gamers. Unfortunately, this is set to continue with the Tensor G4, which will be another modified Exynos chip with little performance gains. However, specific details about the RAM and storage options are still unclear.
Cameras
While most rumors currently hint towards a new Samsung ISOCELL GNV main camera sensor, the focus will once again be on AI features. However, it is important to note that the specifications of the UltraWide and periscope lenses are unclear at the time of writing.
Software
Google’s strong suit has always been software, and the same will be true for the Pixel 9 series. While details about Android 14 are scarce, Google is working on a new AI assistant called Pixie. Powered by Gemini, the AI assistant will replace Google Assistant and run on the Pixel 9 series natively, without the need for an internet connection. Additionally, the new assistant will be able to source data from apps like Maps and Gmail to personalize the experience even further.
Battery and Charging
While the battery capacity is unclear, the phone will reportedly incorporate the Qi2 wireless charging standard, allowing the phone to charge using a MagSafe-like magnetic puck.
How much will the Pixel 9 Pro cost?
After increasing the price of the Pixel 8 series, the Pixel 9 Pro will reportedly maintain the same price point, i.e., $999. However, this information can change as more details about the device emerge.
