Paytm Ditches Its WeChat-like Inbox Messaging Feature
Popular digital payments app Paytm has now removed its Paytm Inbox chat feature from its app.
Launched back in November 2017, Paytm’s Inbox feature was much like WeChat messaging service, which allowed users to send and request money over chat. Additionally, users could have a conversation with his or her friends and family.
It was suggested that the decision to take down the Inbox feature from the Paytm app was due to the high cost incurred on it. While the Inbox section is still active on the app, the ability to conduct a conversation is no longer available.
To recall, Paytm has introduced an SMS Inbox feature, available in the Inbox section, which is free of spam. The feature can’t be used to chat but to segregate personal, transactional and promotional messages.
Additionally, the Inbox section has the Videos, News, Games, and the Sheroes (a community for women) options.
According to Inc42, Paytm Founder, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, recently tweeted about the temporary unavailability of the Inbox feature which suggests that it the Inbox feature could soon be back.
However, there is nothing official by the company. For more information, keep on visiting us!
