Man Burned Forest To Get Famous On Facebook, Gets Arrested
Short Bytes: In an act of foolishness, a man in eastern Kentucky admitted to the police that he set a wildfire and took selfie video. The man Johnny Mullins posts weather reports titled Weather Outlook on his Facebook. He has been charged with second-degree arson.
Mullins is “just a misguided kid” – according to the Jenkins police chief, James Stephens – who posts Facebook videos and got fascinated due to his rising popularity, “so that’s pretty much why he did what he did”, said Stephens. Well, the “misguided kid” definitely exceeded the qualifications for a weatherman, setting the jungle on fire.
“He didn’t realize how much danger he was putting other people in,” added Stephens.
Mullins has been charged with second-degree arson. A video posted on November 6 (with 5.3 views as of now) appears on his Facebook page which is still active. Here is the video:
In another wildfire news from Kentucky, a teenager in Harlan County was arrested for settings fire. Meanwhile, in Tennesse, a man named Andrew Scott Lewis was charged with arson and vandalism. He caused a destruction of more than $250,000. In North Carolina, more than 20 forest fires have been reported in which the authorities suspect arson.
