Microsoft has again uploaded a new YouTube video flaunting the capabilities of their home-baked web browser. The company has a habit of doing so after releasing a major Windows 10 update.
According to the latest battery life test done after the April 2018 update, Edge can last around 98% longer than Mozilla Firefox, but it only takes a 14% lead over Google Chrome.
As usual, the test was conducted by streaming the same video on three identical Surface laptops running Firefox, Edge, and Chrome. While playing the video on a loop, the device running Firefox died in 07:15:16, Chrome in 12:32:58, and the one running Edge for 14:20:07.
While it may be a proud moment for Microsoft but it could be the case of the next 2 or 3 tests that Chrome manages to outperform Redmond’s browser. According to the experiment results published after the Fall Creators Update, Edge was 19% better than Chrome. And in April last year, the difference was 35%.
Although the results are subjective, the latest numbers published are lower than the previous results. The latest video shows Edge running for around 14 hours. The time was 16 hours in the case of Fall Creators Update video.
